Sammy Handy

Sammy Handy March 19, 2014- October 23, 2023 Beloved doggy son, friend and companion Sammy Handy, Born March 19, 2014 in Pahrump Nevada 3rd of a family of 6 puppies. Abandoned in April 2014 and rescued by Schnauzer Rescue along with his sister and 3 other siblings from an abandoned home in Pahrump Nevada. Sam’s only friend was his sister Lucy who remained by his side and would not leave him even when rescuers tried to keep them apart. Sam climbed a 4 foot chain link fence to escape and ran to be at his sister’s side. Sam was adopted along with his sister that day by our family and has been a very wonderful addition ever since. Sam had many talents. One of which we found out in January of 2017 when he climbed on his dad’s(Stephen’s) chest and laid down because Sam sensed Stephen was having a medical problem and actually predicted a heart issue, saving Stephen’s life. Sam did this many other times, he just knew when (dad was sick) and ran to his side to make sure he was ok and let him know in advance that there was a medical problem coming. Sam Lived in Saint George, Utah until his passing of heart related problems on Monday October 23rd 2023.Sam was always by his dad’s side as he worked in the garage or went out to the back yard. He cried at the door if he was left behind and mom always opened the door and made sure dad knew Sam felt left out. Sam once saved another dog from being attacked by a stray dog who began barking and trying to bite the smaller dog. Sam ran over and stood between the stray and the smaller dog and growling and biting the stray dog on the tail to get him to run away. Sam was like that. He cared about everything and everyone. Sam loved French fries, pizza, and eggs with ketchup, a very seldom, and loved treat for him. Sam had a big heart, he was often sad when his sister Izzy Handy (a Morkie) went for a haircut or to the vet and he was left home, he would cry and try to go with us also. He loved his sister Izzy even though she was most times a pain in the butt, he loved her and protected her unconditionally. Sam was a true friend and companion, he was loyal and true to the end. Sam is survived by his family Stephen Handy, Wanda Handy, Jeremy Handy (brother), Ashley Cheesman (sister), and her husband Cortney Cheesman, sister Izabella Handy, Aunt Hallie, Zoe Cheesman, dog cousins Emmett, and Sokka Cheesman, and Friends and Neighbors who knew and loved him. One neighbor Larry Hyde was especially close to Sam and would often come by and visit him when he could. Even though Sam will be missed, he is now a special addition to Heaven and will be cared for there by Our Father in Heaven until we see him again. Thank you Sam, for the many special years of being part of our family. We love you.
